Thing #136: Parvin State Park, Pittsgrove

by Matt Moxhay on August 31, 2010

This secluded state park is situated on the southern edge of the Pine Barrens and consists of over 1300 acres surrounding Parvin Lake.

Parvin State Park offers something for everyone who loves the outdoors like swimming, camping, hiking, fishing, boating and biking.  They do have “Pet Friendly” camp sites as well, so your 4-legged friend is welcome to join you (just not on the swimming beach).  Also note that swimming is only “provided from Memorial Day through Labor Day.”  I’d gather that after Labor Day it would be a be too “refreshing” even if swimming were permitted!  The camp sites and cabins are available from April 1st through October 31st and there are 4 “Group Sites” from groups of up to 25 per site.  If you’re into birding, you may want to come in the Fall as close to 200 species of birds will migrate through the Park.

I couldn’t find a trail map, but I did locate this site that has some reviews and provides a bit more information and history about the Park.

Have a great day exploring your world!
